Got the following from Chris (one of the guys heading up this effort)...
| Quote: | | "We will need volunteers for the big fundraising event on June 20th. If you are available, I can put you on the list of volunteers for the day, just need a full name and phone #. Other than volunteer needs, we've got pretty much everything covered for a little bit. Once we get closer to park construction there will be lots of odds and ends you can assist with." |
I know its fathers day, but if any of you could spare some time that would be cool, i'm going to try and see if i can squeak out a couple of hours to volunteer. |

this park will probably seal the fate of Modern unfortunately. Free always trumps pay for most people. I always wondered why GR doesn't have a decent outdoor park considering the size of the city. Be nice to have more options that don't require hours of driving.
Think I'll start saving for that vert ramp now. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/whitedevilriot |

Yeah I've been back for a couple of weeks. Rain kept the skating down the first week. Missed you the last couple of Sundays sessions. Thursday night I'm gonna' try to get down there.
I got land, who wants to save the vert ramp with me when it's over... build a clubhouse under the deck... _________________ http://www.myspace.com/whitedevilriot |

| I think there is room for both a free outdoor park and for modern to exist. The population of the area is large enough to support both and the fact that the weather is mostly crap for a good chunk of the year means there is A market for an indoor park. Also not all of the people that would use a place like modern would venture downtown to an outside spot( think parents with small kids and the people that use modern as a babysitting service). I know I plan on suporting both. |

| What the fuck? First Farmington Hills, and now a free park in downtown Grand Rapids? I've been freezing my ass off in VT skating with little kids at Talent skatepark where there is only one actual vert wall to skate. You guys suck. |
